Raptors Roar Back From Slow Start
Glendale Offense Hits Stride in 64-22 Drubbing
(Glendale, Colorado) – The Utah Warriors came out strong and fast posting 10 points in the first 13 minutes of the game, but the Raptors quickly turned the tables to win the match by a final score of 64-22. The Warriors drop to (2-9-1) and sit in 7th place in the league while the Raptors move to (7-4-2) and the win bumps them to 4th in the league currently
Tim O’Malley started the scoring for the Warriors in the 9′ minute with a penalty kick and was quickly followed by Josh Anderson adding the first try of the match in the 13′ minute. However, a yellow card on Fets Vainikolo left the Warriors a man down and Glendale took advantage scoring back to back trys during the sin-bin period. In all, the Raptors scored 31 unanswered points in the final 20 minutes of the first half and went into the break with a 31-10 lead.
Within the first minute of the second half, the Raptors scored and took the lead to 38-10. Gannon Moore added a try for the Warriors in the 55′ minute to keep the game within reach at 38-17. But the Raptors answered with 2 trys within 7 minutes of each other escalating the lead to 52-17. Matt Jensen added a spark in the 75′ minute with a well played try that took the Warriors to 59-22. But the deficit was too much to overcome for the Warriors. Glendale struck one more time late in the game to make the final score 64-22.
This match represents a tie for the most points scored by a team in MLR play this year. Toronto scored 64 points against the Warriors earlier this year. This match also represents the largest point-loss of the season by the Warriors.
The Warriors travel this week to take on the Toronto Arrows on Sunday, May 12th starting at 12:00 PM MST.
