Utah Warriors Broadcast Team are Rugby Veterans
Salt Lake City, UT — The Utah Warriors announced today that local TV and sports personalities Jarom Jordan and Jonny Linehan will call the games for the upcoming 2018 season. Jordan will serve as the play-by-play talent with Linehan providing his experienced color commentary.
Jarom Jordan has been a voice in the Utah sports community at BYUtv the past 12 years as a play-by-play, host, reporter, and producer most notably on BYU Sports Nation, Cougar Men’s Volleyball play by play the past 10 seasons, and BYU Football’s pregame show Countdown to Kickoff.
Jordan’s experience in rugby includes broadcasting and calling the play by play for the first live college rugby games on TV in USA history with BYUtv in 2009 and 2010 as well as behind the scenes work with ESPNU and NBC Sports Network.
“I’m excited to join the Utah Warriors on this maiden voyage as Major League Rugby gets going,” Jordan said, “Utah is a hotbed of rugby and I believe it’s going to make a splash, quickly. I think fans are going to like what they see from the league and from this team.”
“As a New Zealander, I live and breathe rugby. Watching the growth of rugby in the United States is truly exciting. I can’t wait for the people of Utah to get behind the Warriors as they look to make history this year” – Jonny Linehan
Linehan, originally from Auckland, New Zealand moved to the United States in 2013 to play rugby and study at BYU. After helping BYU win three consecutive national championships he walked-on the BYU football team as a punter in 2015 and earned a scholarship after that season.
Having experience in both football and rugby at elite levels in the USA, Linehan is excited to see professional rugby grow in America.
“As a New Zealander, I live and breathe rugby,” Linehan said, “Watching the growth of rugby in the United States is truly exciting. I can’t wait for the people of Utah to get behind the Warriors as they look to make history this year.”
Jordan and Linehan will call the Warriors’ local and regional broadcast games on March 30th [vs. Glendale], April 6th [vs. Ontario], April 20th [vs. Edmonton], May 5th [Glendale] and June 23rd [Houston]. The other home games will be CBS Sports MLR Game of the Week broadcasts and called by CBS talent.
