Utah Warriors hire new CRO and Group Event Manager
Salt Lake City, Utah — October 6, 2020. The Utah Warriors Rugby organization has hired sports-industry veteran Tyler Howell as Chief Revenue Officer (CRO). He will oversee all of the Warriors’ revenue streams, including ticketing, sponsorships and merchandise.
More importantly, Howell will be responsible for assisting the Warriors in growing and maturing from a start-up sports franchise to becoming an integral part of the sports and entertainment landscape in Utah. With Howell’s many years of experience in both the NBA, as a former President of Ticketing at the Portland Trailblazers, and early-stage professional sports teams, Warriors CEO/GM Kimball Kjar said he’s more than confident in Howell’s abilities.
“Bringing Tyler on board is a huge win for the Warriors. He brings years of major league sports experience and will be absolutely crucial to our growth,” Kjar said. “Tyler is joining us at a key time in the life of the team. Having just announced our plans for a new stadium, we’re thrilled to have him as part of the executive team, as we embark on this next important step in serving and growing our Warriors Nation fanbase.”
Howell echoed Kjar’s excitement in joining the Warriors’ executive leadership team.
“I am excited to join this organization and league,” Howell said. “I look forward to working with an ownership group that shares my values of integrity and leadership. Rugby is a part of Utah, is the fastest growing sport in the country and has a deep tradition of honor and sportsmanship. I am honored to be a part of the Warriors growing their brand and continuing to showcase this amazing sport in our community.”
In addition to Howell’s hiring, the Warriors have also added Jesse Sanchez as the Group Event Manager, reporting into Howell. He will oversee group ticket sales, season tickets and group experiences, with an emphasis on managing the growth of the Warriors’ ticket base in the community.
Sanchez has worked for almost 5 years in the professional sports and entertainment industry in ticketing and event sales. He previously worked with the Utah Grizzlies and Real Salt Lake at the Major League Soccer and United Soccer League levels.
“I am very pleased with how our front office staff is coming together. Jesse is a great addition to the team,” Kjar said. “Jesse is very qualified for this role and will play an important role in growing our season ticket base, working with our existing fanbase and introducing rugby to a new audience in the Utah community.”
The Warriors will host the inaugural Fall Series for the Warriors Selects, the MLR-development team for Utah. The Selects team will play in four home games at Zions Bank Stadium starting October 23rd. Admission is free for Warriors’ season ticket holders and $5 for all others.
