Utah Warriors to host OnWatch Celebration of Rugby on July 10
Herriman, Utah — The Utah Warriors are excited to announce that their home game against the Rugby ATL on Saturday, July 10, will serve as the OnWatch Celebration of Rugby.
“We are thrilled to partner with OnWatch to celebrate and honor the pioneers of the sport of Rugby here in Utah,” said Warriors CEO and Chairman Kimball Kjar. “This state has such a rich history when it comes to rugby and we hope to shine a light on some of the people and teams that helped this sport grow in our community and helped pave the way for the Warriors to call Utah their home.”
As part of the OnWatch Celebration of Rugby, the Warriors will host several different events over the course of Saturday, July 10. The celebrations will kick off in the morning with a coed touch rugby tournament, open to high school aged athletes with another division open to players of all ages and skill levels.
To kick off the day, the Utah Warriors Academy – a team composed of local high school rugby players – will take on USA Rugby South in a match at Zions Bank Stadium with kick off scheduled for 2 PM.
In addition to other events, the Warriors will host the Utah Men’s Premiership Champions Final, taking place at Zions Bank Stadium at 5 PM MT.
All proceeds from the OnWatch Celebration of Rugby will go towards the Utah Warriors Rugby Foundation, benefiting underprivileged youth and helping to grow the sport of rugby in the local community.
“July 10th, our rugby Alumni Day, will be a day to unite all branches of the Utah rugby community with all proceeds going towards the growth of rugby on the local level and providing opportunities for underprivileged youth through the game of rugby,” said Harker. “I’m hoping to see all levels of rugby come together over our OnWatch Celebration of Rugby to benefit our youth. The Warriors are providing a day of rugby and recognition, and my hope is that everyone will feel connected and a part of the rugby family.”
