Warriors Wednesday: From the Captain’s Huddle
Warriors Nation,
The 2019 season hasn’t necessarily gone as well as we would have liked on paper. Obviously not winning week in week out is tough, but it certainly is character testing. That is what I have come to learn about this group of Warriors: there is no shortage of character and grit!
When the chips are down you are faced with two options:
- Roll over, give up, push the blame onto someone or something else and stop working hard
- Roll your sleeves up, continue to work hard to make yourself and those around you better, learn from mistakes and take accountability.
And the latter is what the boys on this team have continued to do week-in and week-out which is really pleasing.
Above all, Warriors fans have been outstanding throughout the season. Regardless of the weather, they have turned up and really boosted the boys for our home games. There’s nothing better than a vocal crowd!
The loyal supporters really showed their true colors turning up for the two snow games we had early in the season. Conditions were bitterly cold, and I was seriously impressed with the number of fans who made the effort to brave the cold and support their team!
The future of the Utah Warriors and the MLR is exciting! There have recently been a couple of big signings for the Warriors that will join the team for some of this season and next year. Adam Thomson, a former All Black and a current Fijian Gold Medalist in Pat Ravouvou will look to join the Warriors here soon and the fact that players of such high quality are wanting to play in the MLR just shows how fast it is growing and developing.
For now, the team and I will keep grinding and working to represent this great rugby community and state well. The team is building a solid foundation for the future and we’re looking forward to closing out the season strong.
We hope to see you all Saturday at Zions Bank Stadium as we take on the San Diego Legion who are currently leading the MLR standings. We did well down there early in the season, but came up a little short and hope to have a great crowd in the stands and a solid showing from the boys to help get us the win!
Exciting times ahead! Go Warriors!
