Elijah Hayes, a prop for the Utah Warriors, is from Destrehan, Louisiana. Elijah started playing rugby his senior year of high school and played one year at Southeastern Louisiana University before transferring to Iowa Central Community College in 2018. In 2019, Elijah helped the Tritons win a D1AA Fall National Championship.

Elijah was part of the inaugural 2020 MLR draft and was selected by the Warriors in the second round with the 19th pick.
