Les was born and raised in Auckland, New Zealand, but moved to Australia in High School. He attended Keebrah Park, one of the top feeder schools to the NRL, and also made the Australian Schoolboys team. After High School Les attended BYU-Hawaii on a basketball scholarship, but was later recruited to the University of Hawaii to play football. In 2011 Les moved to Utah and played rugby for the Utes. After graduation, Les was selected by the USA Tomahawks and played in the 2013 Rugby League World Cup and played professionally in the UK and Australia. Les is married to his wife Holly and they have two children, Riley and LJ.
