Matthew Jensen

Matthew Jensen is a native of Scranton, Pennsylvania who captained  his Pomona Mountain East High football team and made All-Star teams for both the offensive and defensive lines. He also lettered in track and field, specializing in the javelin.

After high school, Jensen moved to Utah and played rugby for the first time under Coach Larry Gelwix at Highland. The following year, Jensen attended BYU and was a preferred walk-on for the Cougars Football team. However, upon returning from his two-year service mission in Paraguay, Jensen opted to play rugby instead.

While at BYU, Jensen won two National Championships and made the All-Americans tour to Australia in 2016. Jensen continued his impressive form and was selected first, as an Eagle reserve against the New Zealand Maori All Blacks, and then in February 2017, as Eagle number 506. He earned his first cap playing against Uruguay. To date, he has been capped 7 times, scoring  against both Georgia and Chile.
