Matthew Jensen, a fourth-year lock for the Utah Warriors, went to high school in Scranton, Pennsylvania and captained his Pocono Mountain East High football team. He made All-Star teams for both the offensive and defensive lines and lettered in track and field, specializing in the javelin.
After high school, Jensen moved to Utah and played rugby for the first time under coach Larry Gelwix at Highland. The following year, Jensen attended Brigham Young University and was a preferred walk-on for the Cougars football team. However, upon returning from his two-year service mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Paraguay, he opted to play rugby instead.
While at BYU, Jensen won two National Championships and became a first team All-American in 2016 and 2017. With this team, he went to Australia in 2016. Jensen continued his impressive form and was selected as an Eagle reserve against the New Zealand Maori All Blacks. Then, in February of 2017, he was selected as Eagle number 506. He earned his first cap playing against Uruguay. To date, he was capped 7 times, scoring against both Georgia and Chile.
