Brandon Sparks, General Manager/Director of Rugby

BRANDON SPARKS

Brandon Sparks brings his wealth of knowledge and experience to the Utah Warriors as General Manager.

Sparks thrives off of development, not only from himself, but those around him. Sparks is the founder of the Legacy Academy, an academy that develops under-privileged rugby athletes who aspire to one day play collegiately or professionally. However, the development isn’t just limited to the rugby field. Sparks also ensures that the youth he connects with also develop for success in life.

Sparks led his hometown University of Michigan’s rugby team as head coach from 2014-2019. From 2015-2017, Sparks was the head coach of the USA Rugby AIG Women’s Collegiate All-American 7s team. He is no stranger to Major League Rugby as he was also a part of the Seattle Seawolves coaching staff for the inaugural 2018 season.

Sparks will oversee the Warriors’ player and team operations. He will also put work into talent identification, community engagement and strategic rugby partnerships.

“Excitement isn’t a strong enough word to describe my emotions about joining the Utah Warriors and working with the incoming coaching staff and players,” Sparks said. “On the field, I am committed to collaborating with the coaches to create a culture that players desire to be a part of and Warrior Nation is proud to support. Off the field, I am eager to be in a position to create opportunities for players, coaches and referees in the passionate rugby communities of both Utah and the United States that will support their development and help them accomplish their rugby goals.”
