Strength & Conditioning Coach
Matt Byrd is from Seattle, but grew up mostly in Puyallup, Washington. His family also spent some time in Laie, Hawaii.
Byrd attended New Mexico Highlands University, where he played football for two years ( 2001, 2002), before going on a 2-year service mission, from 2002 -2004. From 2006 to 2008, Byrd played rugby for the University of Utah. During this time, he was recruited into the USA 7s player pool, where he remained for three years ( 2007 – 2009 ).
Also during this period, Byrd became a personal trainer and strength and conditioning coach — something that he has continued to do successfully to this day. Byrd has worked with professional athletes from the NBA, the NFL and the European Basketball league. Over 30 graduates from his strengthening and conditioning program have gone onto Division 1 scholarships . For six years, from 2012 to 2017, Byrd was also coach for Davis Rugby.
To identify and harness the weakness in an individual and a team, to strengthen them mentally , and to develop them physically is always Byrd’s goal. He firmly believes that results always speak for themselves and his product lies within each person he trains and conditions.
